Is it summer yet?

I think the summer might finally be around the corner. Or at least springtime. We still have some snow left, and it's now April. We've had a couple of sunny days now, but Tuesday came as a shock to me. It started snowing again! Although it was a small snowstorm (more like a snow-breeze, really) up on the mountain, where I live (yes, there's a small one not far from downtown here), you can imagine how happy I was. I was busy enough just dodging the snow, so I didn't get any snaps of this crapper. I did, however, manage to catch some of the progress in the snow melting on a corner where I live:

As most of you have caught up in recent news, the Danish newspaper Jyllandsposten published a caricature of Mohammed, the Muslim prophet. Knowing full well that depicting the prophet is against Islamic law, several other European newspapers republished these caricatures for some strange reason, among others, a Christian extremist newspaper called "Magazinet". I have a feeling that they did this just to piss someone off.

Recent Muslim turmoils set aside (check my opinions section for my view on those issues), the largest phone company in Norway, Telenor, decided to change their graphic profile this week. I may be old-fashioned, but I generally think that was a bad idea. I mean, look at the differences:

It certainly took long enough, 5 months after we got home. Not only that, it took me a full 5 days to complete the story and fit the writing of it among my daily tasks. The date on the article tells you when I started writing it. To be honest, the time it took me to write it was closer to 5 and a half days.

Summer holiday 2005, part 2 of 2As I was saying in part one, we were going a trip down Europe, stopping by Opatija in Croatia and Zalakaros in Hungary. I finally got around to bother writing the second part. Hopefully, I'll still be able to recall from memory the rest of the storyline. I'm just thankful I already prepared and uploaded all the images a long time ago, those will definitely aid me in the writing. If you missed the first part, here it is:

Summer holiday 2005, part 1 of 2This year, we're going a trip down Europe, stopping by Opatija in Croatia and Zalakaros in Hungary. And in case you're wondering, I am writing this while on the road. God, I love my new laptop. And while I'm at it, I'm also using Microsoft AutoRoute 2005 to plot out the actual route we're taking, and Jasc Paint Shop Pro to output the maps to a save-able image file. Let's just see how far I can keep this up.

This is NeonNero, reporting to you live from a hotel room in Odense, Denmark. I found a freebie WLAN connection nearby my hotel room, which isn't as good as the one provided by the hotel itself (but it's free compared to the one within the hotel itself, and I'm a little short on cash right now). Just thought I'd share about another "item" I "won"...

At last, I have a laptop of my own now. It took most of my June salary, but it's worth it. Now I can write down my ideas while on the move, or even connect myself to a wireless network nearby (such as a café). Last Tuesday, my mother's laptop arrived along with a wireless router (which I've installed and connected to the Internet at home), and a week or two before that, my sister went a bought a laptop for herself. Who would've thought that I'd be the last one in this house to get a laptop?

Overseer - Meteorology

Marmot asked me to translate a little bit text in Swedish to English for him. The text is spoken in the tune Meteorology by Overseer, so did my best shot at it, since Norwegians are known to understand all the other Scandinavian languages (Swedish and Danish) better than people in Sweden and Denmark understand Norwegian (according to a recent study).
